RE at St Catherine's
At St Catherine’s, Religious Education encompasses all aspects of our school life. Our Religious Education Curriculum is underpinned by our school Mission Statement: “Where Jesus is at the centre of all that we do” and our School Values: Love, Belief, Service, Truth, Peace and Mercy. We aim to present engaging content which is the basis of knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith. Our curriculum provides pupils with the opportunities to think, develop their critical facilities and relate faith to life. At St Catherine’s, we focus on recognising and valuing every individual as being made in the image and likeness of God. We teach pupils to recognise their uniqueness and we are committed to helping every child grow and develop in God’s love. As well as being taught about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, pupils are also taught about traditions and beliefs of other faiths. We celebrate the similarities between Catholicism and other faiths and also teach children to be respectful of people and traditions from other faith backgrounds enabling them to recognise the value and worth of others. We intend to provide an education for pupils to be inspired, comforted and reflect upon the opportunities for living and sharing our faith.
